Our Staff The strength of our service lies first and foremost in our staff, all of whom are highly competent, committed and helpful. Many of our employees, of which we currently have 32, have been with us for more than 5 years and at least 8 have been with us since we bought the company in 1993.
As part of our commitment to our passengers, we only employ black males who are carefully screened.
They must be friendly, courteous and speak good English as well as Zulu. Our taxi drivers all have over 5 years experience and are all over the age of 35.
There is an office staff of 5 controllers and Mrs. Heather Gretton and her daughter, Mandy Morrison, oversee the operations. Mr. Gretton attends to the vehicles.

Tips For When Hiring A Taxi
Always contact a reputable company - by phone. Be careful of flagging taxis on the road.
Before embarking, make sure that the company details are clearly displayed on the vehicle.
The hirer of a taxi has the right to choose any cab at a rank - do not be forced by drivers or hotel porters to take a car or driver that you are not happy with.
Ensure that the cab has a taximeter in working order and ask what the rates are, as these can vary from company to company.
Make sure that the meter is set to zero or the flag fall and that the driver only starts the meter once you are in the car.
Unless you have been given a set rate, which has been pre-arranged, pay only the rate shown on the meter. The meter price is shown in South African Rand - know the current rate of exchange and be careful you are not overcharged when paying in foreign currencies.
If a set rate is not given to you over the phone but by the driver, be careful that you are not overcharged.
A proceeding fee may be charged on trips that do not start or finish in Durban, for example Gateway Shopping Centre to Durban North.
BE AWARE OF THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A METERED TAXI AND A MINI BUS TAXI, WHICH IS IN FACT A BUS.
DO NOT BE FORCED INTO HIRING ANY VEHICLE THAT YOU DO NOT FEEL HAPPY ABOUT.
IF YOU ARE UNSURE, RATHER TAKE ANOTHER TAXI.
Specifically With Zippy Cab Taxis ....
Ask the driver his name and number.
If you would like to use the same driver again ask for his card and number and when phoning for a cab ask for that particular driver.
If you are not happy with the service in any way i.e. the driving, the driver or the fare charged, contact the company quoting either the drivers name or number or the vehicle number.
FOR YOUR SAFETY OUR CARS ARE METERED AND RADIO CONTROLLED.
